COA Verification Guide
Every QSC compound ships with a Certificate of Analysis (COA) issued by Janoshik Analytical Laboratories — an independent third-party testing provider. This guide explains what a COA contains, how to read it, and how to verify its authenticity on the Janoshik website.
All QSC batches have publicly verifiable Janoshik COAs
Independent. Tamper-evident. Verifiable online by any customer.
What Is a Janoshik COA?
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) from Janoshik Analytical Laboratories is a formal analytical report documenting the purity and identity of a specific peptide batch. Unlike supplier self-issued "COAs" (which are unverifiable), Janoshik COAs are generated by an independent laboratory with no commercial relationship to QSC's sales outcomes.
Janoshik is the most widely recognised third-party testing provider in the research peptide community, accepted as a gold-standard reference by forums including Meso-Rx, Reddit's peptide communities, and RWI.
What a Janoshik COA Contains
- Compound name and batch number — unique identifier for this specific lot
- HPLC chromatogram — the actual chromatography output showing peak areas
- Calculated purity percentage — target peak area as % of total integrated area at 220nm
- Mass spectrum — ESI-MS or MALDI-TOF data with identified m/z peaks
- Calculated molecular weight — derived from MS data, compared to theoretical
- Testing date and analyst identification
- Online verification URL or QR code
How to Verify a COA Online
Locate the Batch Number
Find the batch or lot number printed on your QSC product label or included in the order documentation. It will also appear on the COA document itself.
Visit Janoshik's Website
Go to the Janoshik verification portal. The current URL is referenced on every COA. Enter the batch number into the search/verify field.
Compare Results
The portal returns the original testing data for that batch. Confirm that the HPLC purity, MS molecular weight, compound name, and testing date match what is on your COA document. Any discrepancy indicates the COA may have been altered.
Confirm Identity Match
Check that the measured molecular weight in the MS data matches the theoretical MW for the compound you ordered (reference our Compound Index for theoretical MWs).
Why Independent COA Verification Matters
The research peptide market has a well-documented problem with suppliers issuing self-prepared COA documents that either use in-house testing (which the supplier controls and can manipulate) or are fabricated entirely. A self-issued COA is essentially a supplier telling you to trust the supplier.
The Janoshik model inverts this: a third party with no incentive to misrepresent the data independently tests each batch and issues a uniquely numbered report. Because the report is stored on Janoshik's servers and accessible to anyone with the batch number, there is no way for QSC (or any party) to substitute a real COA with a fraudulent document without detection.
Research Use Only. COA verification confirms that a batch meets purity specifications for research use. It does not constitute approval for human use, which requires pharmaceutical-grade manufacturing and regulatory certification beyond HPLC/MS testing.
